| Swim Team Program Overview: |
|
| The Shorewood Swim Team is one of the most active programs that the pool has to offer. The team is a special group that encompasses swimmers with many different ability levels, including those who primarily enjoy the recreation and exercise, to those who swim year-round and are hoping to set new records. The children are
usually of the ages between 5 and 18. The program is uniquely designed to meet the individual needs and desires of all swimmers, while simultaneously promoting the positive benefits of team sport. |
| We are part of the All-City Swim League allcityswim.org, and regularly compete with the other participating teams from around the city. The season is seven weeks long and involves daily practices Monday through Friday, with a dual meet each Saturday morning for the first six weeks. The final week culminates with the All-City Swim Meet and an end of year team celebration. |
| Children are encouraged to participate in as many practices and meets as possible, however the ultimate level of participation is an individual decision for each swimmer and his/her family. All levels of participation are well received. Meets are not a mandatory part of the team participation. |
| In addition to the practices and meets, there are numerous additional team-oriented activities that are available to the swimmers. These include such things as a team movie, bicycle ride to Babcock Hall for ice cream, Brewers outing, trip to Noah’s Ark, frequent cookouts, and much more. |
| As each summer goes on, the team becomes a big family and is one of the truly special programs that the pool has to offer. Come on out and help us with the team cheer… YEE! |

| Registration and Requirements: |
- Pre-registration is required. These registration forms are available in the left margin of this page, or they may be obtained at the pool. Please note that there is a $5.00 administrative fee for forms that are received after May 15th.
- Swimmers may be of any age, however should be able swim across the width of the pool (25 yards) without stopping or needing assistance. If a swimmer is unable to do this at the start of the program, they are able to join at any point during the season as they are able.
- Swimmers must compete in at least three dual meets to be eligible for participation in the All-City Swim Meet.

- There will be a parent/coach meeting at 7:00 PM, at the Community Center (above the pool) on Tuesday, June 3rd. Attendance by one parent is required for both new and returning swimmers.
- The success of our team largely depends on the great many volunteers that assist with the hosting of our home meets. Please consider donating some time at a meet this summer. More to follow at the parent/coach meeting.

| Miscellaneous: |

Practices will occur on every scheduled day, regardless of rain, unless there is thunder and/or lightening.
- Due to the short swimming season, there are no make-up sessions if rained-out.

| Team Suits: |
Our suits will be ordered through Walters Swim & Sun at 1639 Monroe Street. Fit night will be at the Community Center (above the pool) on Monday, April 21st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please have your swimmer wear a suit, and orders may be placed at that time. Please bring your checkbook to order other team apparel. For any questions regarding the team suits, please call Walters at 256-7946. Many parent questions will be addressed at the meeting on June 3rd. |
